About Jennifer and Viktor
Occupations:  Jen is the Events Manager, Grand Slam of Curling with Sportsnet. Viktor was previously a professional curler in Sweden and is currently a high performance curling coach in Scotland.
How they met:  I was working as an event manager for the Grand Slam of Curling and Viktor was a curler on the tour. We first became friends and then decided although we were living 6,000 miles apart that we should give a relationship a shot as we could end up regretting it if we didn’t try!
What attracted Viktor to Jennifer: Initially because she is so beautiful and then when I got to know her, her personality just draws you in. – Viktor
What attracted Jennifer to Viktor:  Viktor has the best sense of humor- nothing is better than when he laughs hysterically.
What was the best advice you received as a couple:  For being married- respect and listen to each other and always remember your love story. For the wedding day- Take a step back and think about how lucky you are to be in love and share that with all of your friends and family and also to not eat an entire bag of skittles before you walk down the aisle.
Engagement story:  I was visiting Viktor over Christmas of 2013 in Sweden and was there for three weeks. On the final Friday prior to me going home, Viktor and I were staying in Karlstad where he lived and had plans to have a really nice dinner out together in town. We were sitting on the couch having a glass of wine and Viktor had the ring stuffed in the couch cushion. My co-worker had sent me an e-mail asking me to call her and I did right away which turned into a 45 minute conversation and poor Viktor was sweating the entire time and then finally I got off the phone and decided to shower and get ready for dinner. Fast forward another hour and after he had been tortured by time he finally said I have something important to ask you and gave a little speech and got down on one knee. Although it wasn’t as planned it could not have been more memorable or perfect for both of us. We celebrated together out for a beautiful dinner and spent the rest of the night calling friends and family to share the good news while drinking champagne.

The Wedding Day
Wedding date: January 30, 2015
Number of guests: 75
Wedding colours: Blush, Grey, Silver, Gold and White
Jennifer’s most memorable moment: Walking over the bridge to the beach where our reception was held- it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen.
Viktor’s most memorable moment: When she turned the corner walking down the aisle- unbelievable!
Advice to others: Your wedding day is not about perfection, it is about it being your day- don’t sweat the small stuff!
Favourite wedding detail: We had an LED dance floor on the beach at the reception and it was unbelievable- it was packed all night and all of the guests raved about it. So Fun!
Most unexpected moment: One of our friends who is hilarious always takes his shirt off at weddings and at our he started a trend. By the end of the night not one man was wearing a shirt and all of them were hanging on the lanterns (which burnt holes in the shirts) over the dance floor- the photos are hilarious!
Most romantic moment: Standing at the alter together, the officiant was exceptional and I remember really looking at Viktor and taking in every single word she said. I had butterflies the entire time.
Did you include any traditions in your wedding? Nothing out of the ordinary- other than in Swedish tradition the groom gives the bride a gift the morning after which was a surprise and so lovely!
Honeymoon: We spent the second week at the Excellence, Playa Mujeres
The day in three words: Magical, Paradise, Love (the most love!)

Wedding Details
Ceremony location: A beach reception was held under a gazebo at the Grand Sunset Princess Resort in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.
Reception location: Our reception was held on the beach- it was amazing and beautifully decorated.
Why did you choose this location for your wedding? If we had chosen to get married in Canada or Sweden then half of the family and guests would have to travel so we decided we would have everyone travel and also have a stress free vacation.
Jennifer’s gown: Hera by WTOO
Jennifer’s shoes: Nude, glittered Betsy Johnson flip-flops
Viktor’s outfit: Gray custom tailored suit by These Glory Days
Type of rings: Viktor’s ring was just a plain gold band but he had been wearing it for quite a while as in Swedish tradition you exchange bands when you get engaged so he already had a band. He didn’t wear it for a few weeks leading to the wedding and I had it engraved with our initials and wedding date and used the original band. My engagement ring is a round cut solitaire and I layered it with a white gold and diamond wedding band as well as two different very thin rose-gold bands for a stacked look.
Jewellery: I wore a rhinestone hair comb that was my grandmother’s as well as a rhinestone and rose gold cuff and crystal drop earrings.
Bridesmaids dresses: The bridesmaids all wore their own choice of dress within the colours of the wedding (blush, gold, silver, white and gray)- I wanted everyone to feel like themselves and be comfortable. It worked out perfectly, the girls all looked so stunning.
Groomsmen attire: Viktor had the groomsmen do the same as the bridesmaids and all of them wore their own suits- They all looked so different and so handsome I thought it was really unique.
Wedding song: XO- Beyoncé
Signature drink: We didn’t have a signature drink for the guests but a shot of tequila had to be done to get us to kiss which made for some amazing photos.
Favours: In lieu of favours we made a donation to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation on behalf of all of our guests.
Music: Viktor and I hand picked the playlists for the day and for the reception. During the day we played as many of the songs we could that were some of our guests wedding songs or songs they used during their day . It was so cool to see their faces light up when their song played out of nowhere. The music was surprisingly one of the toughest jobs during the prep, ensuring there was music for all guests. We had fun with it and it really worked out- noone left the dance floor all night!
Flowers: Blush and ivory roses
Photographer: Anil Mungal Photography- Anil also happens to be a good friend of ours which is amazing and he is a brilliant photographer. We were so lucky to have him there!
Hair: I had my hair done at the resort and wore it half up half down with loose curls and lots of volume.
Makeup: Smoky eyes, bright cheeks and nude glossy lips.
Stationery/Invitations: We had a custom monogram designed and applied it to e-vites via Paperless Post that we sent out which worked really well for our destination wedding.
Catering:
We chose a Mexican buffet for dinner which was perfect!
