Candace and Kristof’s Destination Wedding in Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Candice, an event planner, and Kristof, an IT Engineer met 12 years ago at the GO bus station. They were both students attending Ryerson University and both living in Mississauga. Kristof pulled the ole’ “Excuse me, do you have the time” trick, all the while his watch was hidden under his sleeve!  They became great friends — a friendship which lasted about 5 years before they started dating in 2005.

What attracted him to her: Her smile and her sexy booty
What attracted her to him: His sexy LL Cool J-like lips and his confidence
Engagement story: June 5, 2011- “Kristof picked me up at my home, under the pretence of heading to Niagara for a relaxing Sunday drive. Being the adventurous couple that we are, he had arranged for a guided horseback riding tour at Niagara on the lake ( something I have always wanted to do, but we never got around to it). Horses named Earl & King gave us quite the ride, I was not quite prepared with my attire, so I walked away with scratches on my knee, and with a scar to always remind me of that day. After our horseback riding adventure, having worked up quiet the appetite, we had a quick bite to eat, after which Kristof casually implied that we hit up some wineries since we were already in the area. Little did I know he had the entire day all planned out to a tee. Our second stop was Hillebrand Estates, where we spent quite a long time sampling some great local wines. By the third winery I was becoming quiet ‘happy’ after having sampled many delicious wines! Kristof then suggested that we have dinner and then head home. Back to Hillebrand estates, we entered their gorgeous restaurant, where we were lead out to our table on their beautiful terrace overlooking the winery. As we dined over our 5 course tasting menu, the sun was beginning to set and it was during the amazing dessert that Kristof popped the question. It was a fun filled romantic day which I will never forget!”

The Wedding Day

Number of Guests: 96
Her most memorable moment: Walking down the aisle with my dad, and seeing Kristof for the first time at the alter with the beautiful ocean in the background
His most memorable moment: Our first dance. We opted for a salsa instead of the traditional slow dance. We had such fun preparing for this and it was worth the fun we had that night, and hearing how much our family & friends enjoyed it.
Advice to others: “
Don’t stress the small stuff” and soak it all in on your big day, it goes by in a blink of an eye!
Wedding song: You Rock my World by Michael Jackson ( First dance)
Favourite wedding detail: The beautiful private beach that we were married on in Jamaica, at Shaw Park Beach. It was so serene and picturesque.

Signature Drink: We served these at our welcome event : Trini-tini & Guya-tini  (Candice is of Trinidadian descent and Kristof is of  Guyanese descent )
Most unexpected moment: During or vows, Candice saying ‘for richer or richer’ instead of for Poorer or Poorer” …..it was extremely funny, our guests are still teasing her about that!

What was your experience working with LUXE: We had the pleasure of working with Rebecca and Emma on all the planning aspects of our wedding. They were both wonderful to work with. Rebecca was always bubbly and enthusiastic whenever we would meet. Emma was fantastic while onsite in Jamaica with us, definitely a huge plus having her there! She was a big hit with our guests. Thank you LUXE for helping us create our perfect vision for one of the happiest days of our lives.
