When Danielle & Marc first started to think about their wedding, Mexico seemed like a no-brainer. The pair both love to travel, and throughout their relationship there had definitely been an underlying theme of all things Mexican – from first date restaurants, to vacations and everything in between. Then it just became a question of finding the perfect spot for them to travel to with their friends and family. Their dream venue was somewhere that incorporated a unique style and great food, and after seeing the gorgeous Acre Baja in San Jose del Cabo the decision was made!
The wedding couple started their day by getting ready at the trendy Bahia Hotel & Beach House in Cabo San Lucas. Excitement was running high as Danielle and Marc spent the morning getting ready with some of their nearest and dearest.
Just a short drive from the hotel is Acre Baja, a 25 acre farmland in the foothills of San Jose del Cabo. Something that we love about this venue is that it was built entirely using local resources. A highlight is definitely the various tile flooring throughout! In addition to their event spaces, Acre Baja also has treehouse rooms that guests can stay in over night. The couple had their first look right at the entrance, with the lush greenery that adorns the entire property acting as the perfect backdrop.
When choosing their outfits for the wedding day, Danielle and Marc both made sure to incorporate their own trendy personal styles. Marc opted for a deep green suit and white sneakers, while Danielle chose a two piece ensemble complete with a bridal hat. The floral and decor featured a palette of dusty tones, including mauve, cappuccino and apricot. Acre Baja is committed to celebrating the local beauty of the landscape, so it was important to Danielle & Marc that their wedding compliment that. We incorporated a lot of greenery and pampas grass to create more texture to all of their florals and created more of a wild look.
A favourite cocktail for the couple is an Aperol Spritz, so for the signature drink to welcome guests to the ceremony we put a little twist on this with the Reina de la Baja – a cocktail of Aperol, orange, lime, sparkling wine & damiana tinctur. One of Danielle & Marc’s closest friends lead a moving ceremony, and the couple said “I Do!” in front of gorgeous triangular arch. It’s only fitting that they chose this shape to play an integral role in their celebration of their love, as triangles are often regarded as symbols of strength.
Following the ceremony guests moved to the pool area for cocktails. It was a very hot day, so it was a welcome treat for some of them to kick off their shoes and dip their toes in the pool.
The reception took place in the mango orchard (yes, you read the correctly – they dined in a mango orchard!) In keeping with a more natural theme, Danielle & Marc chose dark wood tables and lots of greenery as the primary features of their reception decor. Danielle loves succulents, so it was important to her to incorporate these in the centerpieces as well.
After guests took their seats, Danielle and Marc entered their reception to greet their guests for the first time as husband and wife. The two shared their first dance to “All My Life” by KC & Jojo in the center of the orchard with their friends and family surrounding them. After a toast from the bridesmaids dinner got underway, with a delicious family style menu made entirely of local ingredients, including some produce grown right there on property!
While guests dined, Danielle & Marc snuck away for some photos with Burrito, a donkey who lives on property. Burrito is just one of the many local rescue animals that calls Acre Baja home.
As the sun set, a sky full of stars and the glimmer of the string lights set the perfect backdrop for Danielle & Marc to dance the night away with their friends and family. A highlight was the late night dessert which featured many traditional Mexican favourites, including sweet empanadas, churros, alfojores and a paletas cart.
Congratulations Danielle & Marc, we wish you both so much happiness together!
