Brittany’s most memorable moment: Chris stealing the microphone to sing me All of Me by John Legend
Chris’ most memorable moment: Seeing Brittany walk down the aisle (A Thousand Years – a cover by The Piano Guys)
Advice to others: Don’t sweat the small stuff, the surprises will make the day memorable!
Favourite wedding detail: We decided to have a sand ceremony to symbolize the merging of our family and cultures – bride’s family brought sand from their home in Turkey Point, Ontario and the Groom’s family had sand from Barbados. The bride and groom and their parents all poured sand into a vase to show their commitment to family and the new marriage.
Most unexpected moment: Our wedding party created a tribute video full of impersonations, choreographed dances, and interviews with friends and family – everyone was dying of laughter!
Most romantic moment: Our first dance under the night sky – it was perfect!

Astrological signs (Brittany) and (Chris):

What was blue? The bow on the garter from my Aunt’s wedding gown
Is there anything else that helps tell the story of the day? We were lucky enough to have over 60 friends and family members travel to be with us in Barbados in addition to the family and friends that live in Barbados. The day truly was truly about the merging of two families and two cultures – with the backdrop of a one of the most beautiful islands the Caribbean has to offer. We combined local dishes and drinks with a late night snack of Canadian poutine. We also danced the night away to a mix of calypso, 80’s rock, 90’s pop, and country to showcase every genre of music.

Unfortunately, Chris’s mom was very ill and she was unable to attend the wedding. We were able to have her and Chris’s Grandmother (who was taking care of her) ‘virtually’ there via Skype and the photographer was able to capture her photo during the Skype call. It was very nice that he did that because it allowed her to be in a wedding photo. Chris’s mom sadly passed away about 3 weeks after we returned from Barbados so it was a blessing she was able to see us on the big day.

Tell us about your experience working with LUXE Destination Weddings: Our wedding planner, Cindy Tu, was absolutely AMAZING. We can’t express how much she helped through this process and helped support us from start to finish. She managed all the details, provided us lots of options, and kept us on track with her planning updates and detailed budgets. We know how difficult working with vendors from afar and managing a bride’s expectations is but she made the experience an enjoyable one! When we arrived in Barbados, all of the details were taken care of and we simply had to relax, and be on time. I would highly recommend Cindy’s services to anyone having a destination wedding.
