We’re all for trying something out of the ordinary, so when we saw this amazing all black themed reception from the Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, we were instantly head over heels. This photo inspired us so much that we needed to share our favourite ways to incorporate this dark beauty into your wedding day.

You can start by adding subtle hints of black in your tablescape through matte black plates, black candle sticks and hints of black or dark crimson florals in your centerpieces. For bonus points, serve your guests a glass of sparkling wine with Blackberries when they enter the reception.

We’re also obsessed with these translucent black Victorian chairs. The ghost-like chairs are much less abrasive than a solid black chair and maintain just the right amount of delicacy and elegance for a wedding. Pair these chairs with a moody bridal bouquet made with black sprayed floral, pops of white, and lots of deep lush greenery. We always suggest re-using your bridal bouquet as a reception centerpiece if possible!

We adore black and white when paired together since they contrast each other so beautifully. To achieve this look, go with a smooth black fondant wedding cake with white flower décor on the top and bottom tiers. Try simple black napkins or black cutlery on a crisp white table cloth and white or grey plates. Tie this all together with a sprig of black and burgundy flowers with green foliage as a pretty placement on your table setting.
