Viceroy Riviera Maya Wedding Featured in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style

We are so thrilled to announce that Shabnam and Randall’s spectacular wedding at the Viceroy Riviera Maya (formerly The Tides)  is featured in Grace Ormonde Wedding Style! Thanks to the amazingly talented Elizabeth Medina for taking such beautiful pictures.

We couldn’t help but share the story from the magazine:

“Shabnam Mirshahabi and Randall Stanicky met in January of 2002 just one month after Shabnam had moved to New York City from Los Angeles. Their introduction was only brief and they didn’t cross paths again until a chance meeting four months later, after which they began to date.

Their romance was a whirlwind with many changes, including a period of long-distance dating when Shabnam moved back to Los Angeles for two years. But their friendship and love grew and even weathering the great distance between them until Shabnam finally moved back to the city and they settled in together in their own home.

In July of 2009, Randall told Shabnam he had a business meeting in Laguna Beach, Calif., and asked her to fly out and join him at the end of the trip. Unbeknownst to Shabnam, the story was a cover-up for Randall to fly out there to ask her parents for her hand in marriage. He then arranged a romantic stay at one of their favorite hotels and arranged for a romantic dinner at Las Brisas restaurant overlooking the ocean where he had first told her he loved her five years ago, almost to the day.

After dinner Randall convinced Shabnam to take a walk down to the beach and proposed. “It was the most perfect and meaningful proposal I could have ever imagined,” remembers Shabnam. Randall then arranged for a driver to pick them up and whisk them to the hotel, where the staff had all been in on the surprise, and arranged for the room to be decorated with candles, flowers and champagne. “It was a night I will never forget!” smiles Shabnam.

The couple married at The Tides, Riviera Maya, Mexico in December of the following year. “It was an unforgettable three days spent with our closest family and friends,” says Shabnam. “The best part was that we had the whole resort to ourselves, so we could party the night away and be as loud as we wanted and everyone loved it.”

The weekend included fire dancers, morning yoga and a DJ spinning on the beach all weekend. There was a bonfire beach BBQ rehearsal dinner, as well as a traditional Persian sugar ceremony.

The couple wed on the beach under an orchid-covered arch followed by barefoot pictures in the sand. After cocktails, their guests moved into the lit-up poolside area, which was decorated with green and fuschia orchids, pink ginger lilies and purple lisianthus. The pool was elaborately lined with candles and the dance floor was lit with specialty lighting. DJ Mike spun great tunes mixed with Persian music, which notably got all of the women in Shabnam’s family dancing.

The one thing the couple wanted most was to bring all of their family and friends together for a memorable and fun weekend where all of their favorite people could come together to celebrate their love and that is exactly what happened.”
