When we picture a honeymoon, we think of overwater suites in Bora Bora or sipping French wine beside the Eiffel Tower. However, swimming in crystal clear waters or wandering the streets of Europe may not be for everyone. Maybe your dream honeymoon involves something that brings you back to nature, like camping. We’re all for doing something outside the box, but since it’s your honeymoon we suggest keeping it luxury by choosing to go glamping.
What is glamping? It’s camping, but elevated to the next level with stunning accommodations, endless activities, and gourmet food & wine. You and your spouse can cozy up in a beautifully decorated tent or yurt and enjoy a week of roasting marshmallows over the campfire, playing lawn games, being pampered with spa treatments and engaging with wildlife. We’ve narrowed it down and found our favourite glamping locations, which are scattered across the United States and Canada. You could find yourself in a National park or exploring remote areas of British Columbia. See below for our suggestions for a top tier glamping honeymoon experience.
Under Canvas allows you to explore America’s National Parks and has camp grounds in Grand Canyon, Zion, Moab, Yellowstone, Great Smoky Mountain, Mount Rushmore, and Glacier. We love Under Canvas because you can book a package to check out 7 parks in 7 days, or stay in your favourite park for your entire honeymoon. To top it off, Under Canvas has a tent called the Stargazer, which has a sky light above your bed that allows you to literally sleep under the stars with your forever love.
If you’re less into living in a tent for a week but love the idea of glamping, there’s also the option to Autocamp in California. Living out of a modern and sleek Airstreamer trailer gives you the perfect opportunity to follow your wanderlust. With luxurious amenities, food & wine tours, and unique destinations, this is the obvious choice for an adventurous yet stylish honeymoon.
If you’re going for maximum extravagance, then you have to check out the Clayoquot Wilderness Resort in Tofino, British Columbia. We have truthfully never seen such an incredible camping location. Clayoquot’s accommodations look like a luxury hotel was dropped off in the middle of the forest, giving you the absolute best of both worlds.
Outside of the camping experience, you have the option to go on daily tours such as hiking, biking, safaris, zip lining, white water rafting, hot air ballooning, and horseback riding (just to name a few). Some of our other favourite glamping locations include Green Acres in Texas, and Collective Retreats in Colorado, New York, Texas and Montana.
