After postponing their original wedding date due to the pandemic, Christin and Michael finally exchanged their vows in an elegant ceremony on July 16, 2021 (the one-year anniversary of their official church wedding) at the lavish Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort in Mexico.
The couple celebrated with 50 of their closest family and friends by their side in a dreamy beachside ceremony followed by an intimate reception. When they returned from their wedding, the couple told us all about their tropical fairytale. Read on for more details and admire some of the stunning photos captured by Adventure Photos.
About the couple:
Occupations: Teacher (Christin) and Occupational Therapist (Michael)
How did you meet? We met at work, he came to observe one of my kindergarten students for services.
What attracted him to her: Her beauty, warmth, compassion, intelligence and conversation.
What attracted her to him: His heart, personality, humour and good looks!
Michael told me we had brunch plans in Manhattan with friends. The plan was to meet them in Central Park and then head over to the restaurant. When we arrived, we were walking around for a while “looking for his friends”.
What I didn’t know was that he had hired a photographer who was following us around and they were scouting a perfect place to do the proposal, since the original place was occupied at the time.
After walking around for about 20 to 30 minutes, we finally got to the original destination, which at that point was empty.
It was a beautiful gazebo on a small pond. When we got there, he said the most beautiful words then got down on one knee. I was in complete shock! I had no idea he was about to propose and he 100% surprised me! Of course, I said YES and the rest is history.

If you could give a couple of tips to newly engaged couples about planning a destination wedding, or advice for the wedding day what would you say?
Start early and do a little at a time. No question is too small or silly, so ask your planner any questions that you may have. Have pictures to give your planner and the resort so they know exactly what you want regarding flowers and décor.
When you get to the resort, meet with your wedding coordinator and go over EVERYTHING! You want to make sure you are both on the same page. Find pictures to give your photographer of different ideas/poses for the wedding. I gave my photographer about ten different poses I wanted with my husband and my bridal party, and those pictures are my favorite!
Lastly, make sure to live stream the wedding for guests who cannot make it! We were so apprehensive about doing it because of the Wi-Fi, but it worked out perfectly and it was clear as day. It was so nice to share our special day with those who were back at home!
Congratulations again Christin and Michael on your Dreams Playa Mujeres Wedding!
