It’s official! Alessandra and Paul wed at the beautiful Azul Fives Resort … just a hop, skip and a jump outside of Playa del Carmen in the beautiful Riviera Maya, Mexico. We know you’ll fall madly in love with these beautiful photos as we did. Wonderful work, as always Erick Rodriguez, on photographing a beautiful bride and groom in their glory.
About Alessandra and Paul
How they met: We were set up on a date by mutual friends
What attracted Paul to Alessandra: Smile and intelligence
What attracted Alessandra to Paul: Kindness and positivity – and of course he is just so handsome!
Best advice: Ultimately the wedding day is about the two of you as a couple. Plan the wedding that makes you happy, and let the rest go.
Engagement story: Paul planned a trip to Chicago and had the hotel staff set up our suite with rose petals candles, champagne and strawberries while we were out at a show. It was a complete surprise for me when we came back to the room and he went down on one knee! The staff at the Palomar Chicago were wonderful and did a great job.

Why Mexico? Mexico had a lot to offer and they cater to destination weddings. The resort itself was unique and was a place that we would choose for ourselves if we were planning a vacation, and the reviews were good. In my mind, Destination wedding = beach ceremony, it’s the whole point, so we needed a destination with a beach!
Alessandra’s gown: San Patrick-style, Calais
Alessandra’s shoes: Betsy Johnson bridal collection
Paul’s suit: Custom made Zegna
Paul’s tie shoes and belt: Gucci
Type of rings: White gold and diamonds (black diamonds for the groom). Rings were custom made
Jewellery: Anzie mother of pearl bracelets and earrings
Wedding song: Ingrid Michaelson Fools Rush In
Signature Drink: Coconut lime margarita colored to match the theme (mint green)
Wedding Favours: We had customized beach bags made with the wedding date on them and a verse from our wedding song. Inside the bag were natural woven fans with customized tags, and tubes of bubbles that had a mini starfish affixed to the handle and our wedding date and names on them (fans and bubbles to be used at the wedding). There was also a programme for the week’s events.
Music: Our iPod…we rented the sound system, it was perfect.
Flowers: Succulents and orchids
