Love Affair with Langdon Hall

Langdon Hall is a little gem, only 1-hour(ish) west of Toronto. Part of the Relais & Chateaux brand, this location serves as a perfect weekend getaway, mini-destination wedding location or honeymoon spot. With 52 luxurious guest suites, a full service spa, an outdoor swimming pool, a 5-diamond award winning restaurant and gorgeous grounds, Langdon Hall is a place where time seems to stand still.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this charming country inn and I can say from experiencing all “aspects” of the resort, I would return in a heartbeat. The comfortable, luxurious suites all come equipped with a wood burning fire place (I was told that every room at Langdon Hall has a fire place!), which is a really nice touch during the chillier months.

The food is exceptional at Langdon Hall. Chef Jonathan Gushue, Grand Chef Relais & Chateaux, creates incredible seasonal menus and the dining hall is a comfortable and inviting place to enjoy a meal. We tried an array of items from the scallops and snow crab, to the Pheasant and Pickerel. The Wild Rice Brûlée was a unique treat for dessert.

With an exceptional wine cellar (the list is really extensive!! It’s fun just going through it!), Sommelier Kathleen Moore (pictured above) can recommend a wine pairing to go along with the menu du jour. Kathleen was very approachable, knowledgeable and a true professional. And with such a great list to choose from, diners are lucky enough to be able to pair these wines with the local, fresh food choices. Most notably, Langdon Hall has it’s own kitchen garden that produces sustainable organic heirloom products.
And once your belly is satisfied with an incredible meal (the dining room does not disappoint), do not forget to make your way over to the spa for one of their signature treatments like the Bliss Energizing Facial. Or try a spa pedicure, where  your take away gift is the bottle of nail polish you chose (what a nice, unique touch!).

When looking for an escape a bit closer to home, take a look at Langdon Hall.
