Love Story:

Madison and Mitch said, “I do” on May 9, 2024, surrounded by their loved ones at the stunning Hilton La Romana, Dominican Republic. Originally high school sweethearts and now forever sweethearts, the couple was a delight to work with. The Engagement:

Madison and Mitch both share a love for travel, so in October 2023, the couple took a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland. While they were there, a visit to the famous Arthur’s Seat, an extinct volcano, was added to their itinerary. They decided to hike to the top where spectacular panoramic views could be witnessed, and as they approached the summit, Mitch realized it was the perfect backdrop for him to propose – a moment Madison certainly was not expecting, so it was truly a surprise!

Fast forward to 2024, where their love for travel and each other continued to grow. The couple decided to exchange vows in the breathtaking setting of La Romana in the Dominican Republic, and were joined by their nearest and dearest.

Where They Got Married:

Surrounded by lush gardens and the enchanting sea, the newly renovated Hilton La Romana An All Inclusive Family Resort seemed like the perfect place to get married. With plenty to keep guests of all ages busy, between seaside massages at the spa, a lazy river, swim-up bar, and even a water park, it felt like a vacation on top of the celebrations, which is something the couple truly appreciated.

Finding the Right Team:

Madison and Mitch were referred by their friends Sarah and Zach, who used LUXE to plan their wedding the year before. They were impressed by LUXE’s expertise and execution, and knew they wanted to hire the team to bring their dream wedding to life, as well.

What was your most anticipated part of the day?

Seeing each other for the first time.

Walking down the aisle to “Video Games” by Lana Del Rey and seeing Mitch for the first time.

Seeing Madison in her dress for the first time as she walked down the aisle to meet me. She looked absolutely beautiful.

What advice would you give to future couples for their wedding:

It goes by way too fast – live in the moment and enjoy every second.

Were you nervous? If so, what helped keep you calm:

We were both very nervous, but there’s nothing a glass of prosecco can’t fix!

What was the biggest surprise on your wedding day?

The forecast called for rain, but we weren’t shocked since we were in the tropics. The rain somehow held off and the most beautiful blue sky came out for us from behind the clouds!

Wedding Flowers: A mix of tropical and North American flowers, like roses and hydrangeas in white with greenery.

Signature Drinks: We had three signature drinks named after our dogs who were celebrating from home.

Most Romantic Moment: Our first dance under the most gorgeous blue sky with twinkle lights attached to the tent.

Honeymoon Destination: We are still trying to figure it out – there is so much of the world to see.

The Ceremony:

Madison and Mitch’s idyllic ceremony unfolded at the resort’s Beach Gazebo which offered breathtaking panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea framed by gently swaying palm trees. It was decorated with sheer white fabrics and tropical floral arrangements.

The Reception:

The Main Beach area was spacious, inviting, and provided an uninterrupted setting for the reception. As the tropics may sometimes have unpredictable weather, a clear top tent with fairy lights was installed so the reception could take place near the beach, rain or shine.

Each table was decorated with elegant beach-inspired centerpieces featuring a mix of sand-filled candles, greenery, and seashells. At the center, acrylic table numbers stood tall, adding a touch of modern sophistication to the tropical charm.

Underneath the tent, the couple celebrated their vows with their family and friends, and as the sun set, the fairy-lit tent and LED dancefloor provided the ideal setting for the couple’s first dance.

Feedback and advice for future couples, from the couple:

Mitch and I had the pleasure of working with Krista, Paul, and Tiffany. Krista was so patient with us when it came time to decide on our resort because we looked at a lot of them. She was there for us every step of the way and always checked in. Paul was our Travel Account Manager – he always kept us informed and updated on anything and everything to do with travel. Tiffany helped us plan the wedding and wow, did she do a great job. I wouldn’t say I’m into wedding design, so this part would have been very difficult if I didn’t have Tiffany’s help. I shared our vision with her, and she did the most amazing job of bringing our special day to life. Thank you, Krista, Paul, and Tiffany, you were all incredible to work with and never let us down.

For anyone looking into a destination wedding, I would highly recommend working with LUXE. They made the whole process so incredibly easy and enjoyable! To be honest, I miss the daily emails from the team giving us updates on what was happening while we got to sit back and watch our incredible day unfold.
