Congratulations to Mona and Emon on their recent nuptials in Punta Cana. Rebecca was on site at this incredible wedding and here’s the story of Mona and Emon…
A special thanks to Manuela Stefan for her wonderful photography!
About Mona (the bride): Mona is 30 year old accountant who is working towards her CA designation. She loves spending time with Emon, hanging out with friends and family, riding a bike, going to Muay Thai, being outdoors, travelling, and getting lost in the many different worlds of books.
About Emon (the Groom): Emon is a 29 year old logistics coordinator. He loves spending time with Mona, traveling, hanging out with friends and family, playing soccer, golfing with the boys, cycling, playing the drums, and Caribana weekend.
How they met: They met at work. It took a lot of persuading on Emon’s part to get Mona to go out with him! It’s a good thing he never gave up because although it wasn’t love at first site between the two of them, it was love at first date!! From the very first time they went out, Emon and Mona knew they were meant to be together.
What attracted Emon to Mona: The fact that she was smart, beautiful and well dressed but still super friendly and nice to all her co-workers.
What attracted Mona to Emon: The fact that he had such a strong connection to his family and spoke so highly of his grandparents. Also, his friendly and sweet nature.
Engagement story: They had planned a weekend getaway to Horseshoe Valley Resort for the long weekend in May. It was supposed to be a way to relax and have some fun, Mona had no idea this was the weekend Emon had chosen to ask her to marry him. He proposed on Sunday morning, she said yes, and the rest as they say is history!
The Wedding Day
Wedding date: January 12, 2011
Mona’s most memorable moment: Hard to pick just one, the whole day was incredible! But one of the best moments was when did my walk down the isle and reached him, he took one look at me in a whole dress, and veil in the scorching hot sun and said “damn you gotta wear all that?!” It made me laugh which is one of the things I love most about him, the way that he always makes me laugh!
Emon’s most memorable moment: The first dance! It was intimate, relaxed and effortless!
Advice to others: we’re full of practical advice like bring an amazing photographer with you! Or, wear shoes that you can easily slip off to shake out the sand! But, the most important thing we can tell you is, enjoy every moment and take it all in. It goes by way too quickly and before you know it, it’s all over!
Wedding song: Freddie Jackson – You are my Lady
Fave wedding detail: Our dinner table décor (everything from the chairs, to linens, centre pieces, napkins, etc.) Plus, our dance floor and lounge area at the Jellyfish.
Signature Drink: Sex on the beach
Most unexpected moment: When we had to ask our guests to please stop dancing and sit down to have dinner!! Who ever heard of having to tell people at a wedding to stop dancing and sit down?!!
Honeymoon: After spending an entire week in Punta Cana with family and friends and celebrating with them, we spent 9 days in Costa Rica. The trip started in La Fortuna with a Skytrek Canopy Tour at Sunset and ended with a two night romantic stay at the hotel Grano De Oro, in San Jose.
In between we took part in:
• A volcano hike and a visit to the hot springs
• Canyoneering (rappelling down waterfalls)
• White water rafting
• Horseback riding
• Canopy zipline tour in the cloud forests of Monteverde
• Suspended bridge hike
• Guided kayaking or boating tour to Snorkel Island Chora at Samara Beach
The day in three words: Best day ever

What was your experience like working with LUXE Destination Weddings:
Luxe did an amazing job with our wedding. They took care of all the details for the day of and even for our welcome party and our rehearsal dinner. Having Rebecca there on the day of the wedding was the best decision we ever made. She took care of everything so that our wedding party and our moms could just focus on us and not have to think about taking care of anything. They made our day unforgettable without any hiccups! Rebecca even rescued us from the rain… if it hadn’t been for her, we would have gotten stuck in a thunderstorm and been completely drenched!
