About Danielle and Curtis
Occupations: Marketing Managers
How they met: We met at work. We both work for a Marketing Agency in Toronto (and still work together).
What attracted Curtis to Danielle: Her smile and her laugh. Still gets me every time.
What attracted Danielle to Curtis: His compassion and humour. We were good friends at work before we started dating.
What was the best advice you received as a couple? You don’t have to listen to everyone – do what will make you happy!
Engagement story: Originally I was going to propose to Danielle in Portugal but she thinks I can’t surprise her so I planned something different once I got the feeling she was expecting it. She was going out for dinner with her friends so I decided to propose to her when she got home that night. I filled the condo with candles and put on my best suit … little did I know she decided to go out after dinner. Minutes turned into hours and by the time I knew it she was 3 hours past when she said she would be home. I hadn’t moved from the couch in fear that she would come home while I was in another room. Eventually she walked in the door and I finally got that surprise!
The Wedding Day
Wedding date: October 29th, 2015
Number of guests: 60
Wedding colours: Gold, charcoal grey, off white and light peach
Danielle’s most memorable moment: The last song of our reception before it ended. Everyone was jumping around singing and dancing and it was the best! That moment really summed up our whole wedding week – our closest family and friends having such a great time together.
Curtis’ most memorable moment: Seeing Danielle in her dress for the first time – I’ve never seen something so beautiful in my life.
Their advice to others: Don’t stress. Make the planning process fun and don’t worry too much about everything – it will all come together and be amazing. Favourite wedding detail: Churro bar!
Most unexpected moment: Fireworks (not planned by us) that went off over the ocean during our wedding reception!
Most romantic moment: Walking back to our hotel room after the reception. This was the first time after so many months of planning we could breath and just be the two of us. Holding hands and finally being married.
Did you include any traditions in your wedding? No. We had a legal ceremony in Toronto before Mexico and we included traditions there. Something new (wedding band), something borrowed/something old (one of my moms rings) and something blue (ribbon on my bouquet).
Honeymoon: We stayed for a second week in Mexico and switched resorts. It was great to have some relaxing time after a crazy fun wedding week.
The day in three words: Beautiful, fun and unforgettable.

Tell us about your experience working with LUXE Destination Weddings: It was fantastic working with LUXE for our wedding. We plan events for a living so it was weird giving up control when it came to our own day. Everyone we worked with at Luxe was extremely knowledgeable and personable. I would highly recommend Luxe to anyone planning a destination wedding.
