Vicky and Arden’s Destination Wedding in the Riviera Maya, Mexico
About Vicky and Arden:
Occupations: Accountant (Vicky), Travel Agent (Arden)
How they met: We worked out at the same gym so we knew of each other but never said anything to one another until we were formally introduced at a TFC game at BMO field through a mutual friend.
What attracted Arden to Vicky: Everything
What attracted Vicky to Arden: Arden was my dream guy physically. Very athletic with big muscles. He is also the sweetest guy I know and very loving.
What was the best advice you received as a bride/groom? Enjoy the moment and don’t sweat the small stuff
Engagement story: Arden proposed to me on the day after we moved into our new place. He had planned to propose the night before but he said I never gave him the opportunity to since I was so into cleaning and arranging our new place. It was a simple and laid back proposal which suits us well.
The Wedding Day:
Wedding date: May 1, 2013
Number of guests: 53
Wedding colours: Champagne, creams, blush pink
Vicky’s most memorable moment: Walking down the aisle towards Arden
Arden’smost memorable moment: Waiting for Vicky to walk down the aisle and seeing her in her dress for the first time
Advice to others: Take the time to really enjoy yourself on your wedding day since it goes by so fast. Dont sweat the small stuff. All that really matters is that you get married.
Favourite wedding detail: The glass chapel that we had our ceremony in was breathtaking. It overlooked the beach and ocean but was still indoors.
Most unexpected moment: Going back to my hotel room after breakfast on the day of the wedding to find a leak in the ceiling and water dripping off my wedding dress. However, the hotel came to the rescue quickly and my dress was perfect by the time of the wedding
Most romantic moment: Arden and I taking pictures on the beach was the most romantic moment since it was the only time we had alone all day
Did you include any traditions in your wedding? We included the Filipino wedding traditions of the cord, veil and coins
Honeymoon: We haven’t gone yet since we have a 2 year old daughter
The day in three words: Best wedding ever!
Ceremony location: Gran Caribe Real Catholic chapel
Reception location: Albatros Rooftop terrace
Why did you choose this location for your wedding? Mexico was the first place we ever vacationed together as a couple. It is also close enough to home that most of our friends and family would be able to come.
