Riu Ceremony Decor
April 19, 2017
A wedding is a beautiful way to show off two people’s unique styles when they come together as a couple. Often, when it comes to décor, the focus is centered on the reception (there are endless examples of boho chic, classic elegance, rustic charm, vibrant theatrics, vintage style, and much more online) but when you are having a destination wedding, the big ticket item can actually be the ceremony on the beach! When you’ve chosen to do something as unique, exotic and exiting as getting married in a different country, you should definitely take advantage of the situation and let the creative juices flow. There is so much you can do when it comes to the ceremony seating, aisle décor, the arch or chuppa you get married under, and the list goes on and on.
At the RIU Palace St. Martin and RIU Palace Peninsula, the ceremony locations are gorgeous and the included structures are a stunning 4 post arch that guests can see into from every angle. Rather than going with the standard set-up, where 2 sections of seats are lined up in rows, why not do something extra special, and have the seats surround the structure, so everyone can see the couple take their vows:
You can even do something like this on the beach, and spiral the seats around the structure, creating an elegant walkway for the wedding party to make their entrance along. This would look gorgeous at the RIU’s in Jamaica, where beach weddings are the most popular!
If you’re looking to have your destination wedding showcase the lush natural greenery of a Caribbean destination, adding an element of rustic charm to the décor and seating would make for a gorgeous and unique touch. The RIU properties in Riviera Maya (such as the RIU Tequila, and RIU Palace Riviera Maya) have tons of green space, and would look absolutely stunning in this style!
Benches, or alternative seats, such as stools or cushions, also make for an interesting look, whether you’re on the beach or in a garden, and offer something a little different and more personalized.
Another way to spruce up the ceremony is to add a few special touches to the aisle. You can line it with flower petals or palm leaves (great for beach ceremonies when you want your feet to touch the sand), fabric runners or palappa mats, (excellent for ceremonies that take place on a hard surface like that the RIU Montego Bay, RIU Merengue, or RIU Palace Los Cabos), and border it with floral pomanders on sheppard hooks, lanterns, floral arrangements on podiums, umbrellas, and lots more. Get creative and come up with a look that matches your unique personality.
No matter what you end up deciding to do, whether it be going with the included décor offered in destination with your hotel’s wedding package, or coming up with a slew of creative and individual ideas, your big day will look gorgeous!
