What was the best advice you received as a bride/groom? Appreciate the time and effort we built our lives together.

Engagement story:  It was our 9 year anniversary. I came home from work and walked into the house with lit tea light candles and rose petals down the main entrance hallway. Peter made dinner and set up our dining room table and had romantic music on in the background. He set the table and had me sitting down in front of a wall where you can’t see the main hallway of the house. Now this is out of the ordinary because Peter is not romantic at all. I thought it was just for our 9 year anniversary. During dinner, Peter scarfed down his food and said he needed to go to the washroom. He quickly returned and went down on one knee. I had my mouth stuffed with food, dropped the fork and knife and muffled, “What are you doing?!” I quickly tried swallowing my food while Peter was saying all these sweet things. At the end, he asked the one question, “Will you marry me?” Of course I said yes! We both hugged and jumped up and down and Peter said, “Oh be careful, watch out for the candles.” He then turned around and kicked a candle and wax went everywhere. We spent the next 15 minutes cleaning wax off our floor and I looked at Peter and said, “This is the rest of our lives together.”

Is there anything else that helps tell the story of the day?  The whole day went by so fast, so many activities and moments shared between each other and our family and friends. The moment we woke up and got ready with our bridesmaids and groomsmen until partying in the club and staying up until dawn, it was so fun! Helena was nervous when walking up to Peter during the first look, was nervous again when the ceremony started and having my dad calm me down and said “Don’t be nervous, you have no reason to be!”. Helena had butterflies walking down the aisle. Seeing Peter’s mom cry when we did our first dance that was sweet because we never see that side of her. Just seeing how happy our loved ones were, especially our parents.
