Dvara and Darrin’s Destination Wedding in the Riviera Maya, Mexico

Congrats to Dvara and Darrin! Rebecca helped plan this fun couple’s nuptials and still raves about how much she enjoyed working with these two. What a blast. All of these photos are courtesy of Caribe Photo in the Riviera Maya. Here’s a recap from Dvara and Darrin:

Occupations: Lawyer turned legal recruiter/Municipal Contractor
How they met: Through friends – heading out to go dancing at a favourite club downtown. I was late, and Darrin was pissed, didn’t want to wait for me. Was told it was worth it to, and he was right! He said he knew he wanted to marry me the minute he met me. It took me a bit longer to get there, but he was both patient and persistent and he had confidence!
What attracted Darrin to Dvara: Her confidence, she was hot/sexy, and no BS. And she paid her own way (independent). He had been looking for a strong woman to be his partner.
What attracted Dvara to Darrin:
He was an amazing dancer, his sense of humour and the fact that he stayed true to his heart but keeping at it (it took 2 years before we actually got together). He was so open about liking me – wasn’t scare of his feelings or about sharing them (with anyone who would listen) – he was a real man!
Engagement story: Opening of the Winter Olympics, Feb 2009 @ Cloud Gardens on a unnaturally sunny and beautiful Friday afternoon!
The Wedding Day
Wedding date: April 11, 2011
Dvara’s most memorable moment: Being at the alter, with my hunny, feeling like it was the best decision I had ever made. Reading of our vows (that I wrote) and dancing the night away, both on the beach, at the club at the resort and then most of the wedding party going into Playa del Carmen to continue dancing!
Darrin’s most memorable moment: The sight of my bride coming down the aisle, looking beautiful
Advice to others:
Make the day your own –it is YOUR day after all. Enjoy every moment as it goes by so quickly and it will be over before you know it. Stay true to your heart then and forever.
Wedding song: “Lady” by Mojo and “Heaven” by Bryan Adams
Fave wedding detail: Personalized wedding vows, dancing on the beach and beach bbq, unique accessories
Signature Drink:
Just one?!
Most unexpected moment: Leaving our wedding vows, itinerary and all of our wedding info on the plane (I did that!)
Honeymoon: Will be in Italy, Greece and Portugal – April 2012
The day in three words: Absolutely Perfect (only needed two!)

Wedding Info:
Ceremony location: Grand Sunset Princess, Riviera Maya
Reception location: In Mexico – BBQ Beach Party!  In TO, The Boiler House, in the Distillery District
Dvara’s gown: Designed by me – Sparkle organza bottom and satin rouging up top; crystal band around the waist.
Bridal party attire: I sent each bridesmaid some photos of different types of green (ie. emerald) and any style they wanted so that they would wear it again. NO bridesmaid dress!  This way they could choose the colour that suited them the best and it looked really cool to have the variety of colours and styles. Gave them each a Pandora bracelet with a charm –that suited each one so made it personal to each of my girls.
Darrin’s outfit: White linen, V-Neck shirt with ¾ sleeves and green flip flops!
Favours: Shot glasses that said “Eat, Drink and be Married” and show two figures dancing – in Green to keep with our colours
Music: DJ (house music)
Flowers: Mexican Lillies(white only)

Tell us about your experience working with LUXE Destination Weddings:
Thank you to both Anne and Rebecca for all of their hard work and commitment – even during some challenging situations. It’s been a pleasure working with both of you and being able to relay and trust on your expertise and judgement and also a lot of fun! I feel like I’ve developed friendships as well as the business relationship and I feel like you both really cared that our wedding went off perfectly (as possible). It was so nice to be able to show up to the destination with pretty much everything set up already so we could enjoy ourselves and relax and the wedding day was absolutely amazing!
